Righteousness, Anger, Reconciliation.Jesus tells us today that our righteousness must go beyond that of the Pharisees and scribes. That means our life should not be just about preaching or showing off holiness, but truly living it. Pharisees spoke big things, but their hearts were far from God.Jesus wants us to have a connection between what we speak and how we live. If we say “God is love,” then we must become people who live that love in our homes, classrooms, and communities. Not just Sunday Christians, but daily Christians. The second thing Jesus teaches is about anger. We may not kill people with swords, but many times we hurt others more deeply with our words. A sharp tongue can wound more than a sharp knife. Even a small insult, a back-biting word, or silence full of hatred all this breaks hearts. Jesus is reminding us: “Don’t just avoid murder; avoid the roots of it like anger, pride, jealousy.” Let us check our hearts more than our actions. And finally, Jesus says that our prayer, our offering, our Mass will be truly pleasing to God only if we are at peace with our brothers and sisters. We can’t hold grudges and then stand before the altar. Reconciliation comes before worship. If we hurt someone, we must make peace. If someone hurt us, we must forgive. Only then our sacrifice becomes true. God doesn’t need our gifts; He wants our hearts clean and full of love.
